And it worked. It really did. Dream clients literally queued up to book me. For the exact kind of shoots that I had always dreamt of offering. At the price I knew I was worth.

What I am teaching you in this guide changed my life
And I hate hyperbole! This is simply what happened. The massive pivot I did for my business in 2017 changed everything for me. It allowed me to ignore the industry and to build a business that truly felt right – and everything after that is history.
I am Helianna, a 30-something newborn- & motherhood photographer based in Finland. I’m also a mom of three cuties, and my biggest goal is to achieve a balanced life – help you to find that too. Whatever it may look like for you.
This guide includes my step-by-step approach to one of the biggest changes I made 5 years ago. It’s not a cookie cutter solution (because we KNOW they don’t work, don’t we?), but instead it’s a guide that is meant to encourage you to listen to yourself and what you truly want to do, while giving you the tools to achieve what you want.
There are no magic shortcuts to a business that is truly personal. But that’s why it feels so amazing when you actually get there. And I know you can do it! Because I did it too.

Before the change
I started from scratch, found what really felt like me and I realized that in some way, intuitively, I had always known what it would be – I just hadn’t allowed myself to really think about it. I defined the clients I really wanted to work with. And I built a new portfolio behind the scenes.
And you know what? It worked. It actually worked.
I suddenly found myself getting booked for dream shoots by dream clients at dream prices. I’m now at a point where I know that only I get to define the work I do and what it’s worth. I work with mothers and families who understand exactly what I give to them, and they literally line up to book me. I am in charge of my business and my life.
In 2017, three years into my full-time photography journey, I was far from attracting my ideal clients. I shot at low prices and wasn’t brave enough to charge what I felt my work was worth. I felt drained and unhappy. Too many forced poses, too many props and and babies in tutus.
My current clients loved my work, it was in the exact style that was all over the newborn and baby photography industry at that moment. But I realised I was starting to hate it. I was compromising my own style – and my income. This “dream business” I was building started to feel like a night- mare that I couldn’t get out of. One day I finally realised that either I needed to quit or to make a massive change.
